Davide Salvadore – “goto” glass

135,00

At Caffè Florian to mean glass you say goto as per ancient venetian dialect.
From the Latin gŭttus, and from the Greek Κώϑων, in Venice it was the glass used to measure liquids before the adoption of the decimal metric system.

To set up a beautiful table, created with aesthetic sense, dynamism and colour as per contemporary conviviality, you need a touch of elegance and uniqueness that only handcrafted Murano glasses can add.
A goto is the symbol of the ancient Venetian tradition.
Exclusively for Caffè Florian, the glass interpreted by the master Davide Salvadore.

The glasses are handmade in the furnace of maestro Davide Salvadore and reflect the canons of ancient Venetian glass. Salvadore invites you to touch his works because the approach to glass must be sensorial. This goto is realized assembling glass rods which are set in parallel and subsequently blown in a glass shape.
Murano glass carries within it the soul of Venice, the work of skilled hands and the effort and sweat in front of the furnaces.
Among the most popular gift ideas for those who want to take home or offer a design that conveys the aesthetic and artistic sense of the city.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Davide Salvadore was born in Murano in 1953. Descending from a family of glassworkers, he has always lived and worked on the Venetian island. At a very early age he began following his grandfather Antonio into the furnaces of Murano. In 1978 he began producing lamp-worked beads in his mother Anna Mantoan’s jewelry studios; this would lead to a series of collaborations with fashion and design houses. In 2012, he founded the studio “studiosalvadore” where he works still today with his two sons Mattia and Marco and assistants.
Within the studio Davide works as a glassmaster – at the kilns he built himself – mixing lampwork and furnace techniques in new ways. The result was instantly noteworthy, and over time Davide began working for prestigious glasshouses on Murano – Nason & Moretti, Vincenzo Nason, La Murrina – as well as for the Istituto d’Arte di Venezia, and collaborating with international designer and artists. Davide Salvadore is also a founding member of “Centro Studio Vetro” in Murano, a non-profit Cultural Association founded in 1997 to cultivate and promote – in Italy and abroad – the culture and art of glass.
