Florian’s ambience and philosophy in Taichung

Traditions, service and quality as in the Venetian historic coffeehouse

The Florian in Taichung is in the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi luxury shopping centre. Of modern design, the new coffeehouse is true to Florian’s tradition of perfect service and high-quality products, the same of the coffee house Floriano Francesconi opened in Piazza San Marco, Venice, in the year 1720.

The décor of the Taichung Florian Café has been inspired by the style of the Venetian Florian, though renovated in the colour palette: red and blue for the seats, golden mosaic on the backdrop of the bar, and blue, dragon-themed wallpaper to pay homage to the new location.

Inside the Florian Taichung, one room will look just like they do in Venice, complete with red velvet settee and an art installation from the endowment of the Florian Collection. The last element acknowledges the role of Caffè Florian in the creation of the Biennale. On inauguration day, the art on display are photographs printed on canvas produced for the occasion by artist Massimo di Capua. The art pictures Venetian Carnival scenes inside the Venetian Café.

There is room for art in the other rooms, too, where art commissioned by Caffè Florian over the last several years for exhibitions of the Temporanea and Unica series is exhibited. Each of said productions has been made for the yearly exhibitions at Florian, in concurrence with the Biennale: black and white photographs by Gianni Berengo Gardin, glasses by Gaetano Pesce, Qiu Zhijie’s tables, the lion-shaped lamps by Massimo Nordio, and original creations of master Murano glassmakers.

The new Caffè Florian in Taichung offers the same menu of its Venetian counterpart: authentic Italian espresso and all the finest food and drinks: a journey through the last 300 years that will let the Taichung clientele savour a piece of Venetian tradition.

Florian-branded collections will also be available for purchase. They are items of the Venetian tradition and exquisite Italian style: the Gourmet delicacies (coffee, chocolate, tea, sweets, jam) the Lifestyle range (porcelain, accessories, room fragrances, colognes, literature) and the uniqueness of the Design range, created exclusively for Florian by international designers.
